Welcome to auditions for Stag and Doe!
Mark Crawford’s play is a brilliant blend of chaos, comedy, and heart, capturing the humour and heartbreak of small-town life. At its core, this is a story about relationships—past, present, and the messy ways they intersect. Over the course of a single afternoon, we meet characters who are funny, flawed, and deeply human, all navigating the pressures of love, friendship, and expectation.
As an ensemble, this show thrives on timing, chemistry, and bold choices. I encourage you to bring your full energy to auditions, explore the humour in the chaos, and connect to the emotional stakes beneath the laughs. Every character has moments of vulnerability and wit, and the magic happens when we play those fully.
I’m excited to see your interpretations, and I can’t wait to bring this story to life with a cast who will embrace both its hilarity and its heart.

Stag and Doe by Mark Crawford is a comedy set in the kitchen of a small-town community hall on the day of a stag-and-doe fundraiser for engaged couple Bonnie and Brad. Their plans are thrown into chaos when another couple, Mandy and Rob, arrive after a storm ruins their outdoor wedding and they try to use the same hall for their reception. As the two couples clash over the space, long-buried secrets surface—especially when Rob turns out to be the man who once left Bonnie’s maid of honour, Dee, at the altar. Over one hectic afternoon, tensions rise, relationships are tested, and everyone is forced to reconsider what they really want from love and marriage.
