The Community Players of New Hamburg (TCP) are delighted to announce two productions that will make up our 2022 season. After the return to live theatre with TakeTwo: A Series of 2-Person Plays last summer, our plan is to stage a drama and musical in our more conventional time slots: May and November. Both productions feature smaller casts (compared to our large 60-person shows that TCP has been known for) and as we continue to monitor the guidance and COVID-19 protocols from the community Health Department we felt that these two shows offer the opportunity for our group to take an incremental step towards “normal”.
Murder on the Orient Express – May 2022
This classic, whodunit, by Agatha Christie (adapted by Ken Ludwig) is considered to be her absolute best novel and is considered a cornerstone of the mystery genre.
After being called back to London for urgent business, famed detective Hercule Poitot climbs aboard the first class train car of the opulent Orient Express. His journey quickly spirals into a mayhem after a contentious guest is found murdered in a train car. Join Hercule Poirot and a zany cast of ten characters, as they unravel the clues over the course of 48 hours. It is a race against the clock when a snow drift stops the train in its tracks in the countryside between Istanbul and Western Europe.
Peppered with equal parts humour and intrigue, The Murder on the Orient Express is a fast-paced steam train of a play and promises to be an exhilarating ride! All a-board!

The Fantasticks – November 2022
This beloved musical first opened off Broadway in 1960 and ran for 42 years. It is considered the world longest running theatrical production – and for good reason. A beautiful score, a whimsical story, and heartwarming characters will take you on an allegorical journey.
Matt and Luisa, two young lovers influenced by their meddling fathers, together experience all of the highs and lows of adolescent love. On their journey, they learn that love, despite the challenges it can bring, the pain and the joy, sorrow and the ecstasy, is always worth it.
This classic coming of age tale will politely ask you to suspend your reality for a brief period of time, while it takes you back to your childhood; a simpler time when love was magic, and magic was real, and reality was a dream.
