Welcome to The Community Players of New Hamburg’s production of Anne of Green Gables.
I have had the honour of being part of TCP for almost all of the 40 years we are celebrating this season. Holding the role of President for the past few years has been an overwhelming privilege. It is a true joy to see the collaborative spirit that runs through our company; the way all our members contribute to bring each production to life and help TCP thrive is one of the best parts.
Having held many different roles within TCP, it’s been such a delight to see newer members coming into their roles. Even more humbling has been the recognition that we are all able to do we what do today because of those who came before us, building TCP into a community of creative excellence.
As we mark our 40th year, I’m so grateful for all of you as well. All of you who fill our seats, season after season. All of you who support our cast and crew from the sidelines. All of you who partner with us through sponsorship, seeing it as not just ad space but a true opportunity to work together in creating an experience for our community. TCP is proud to be based in Wilmot Township alongside so many faithful supporters. Thank you all!
We’re so glad you’ve chosen to visit Avonlea with us. Please enjoy the show.
Nicole Cotie
President
I am thrilled to embark on this journey as the new Artistic Director of The Community Players of New Hamburg. As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, it fills me with immense pride to kick-start this milestone year with an iconic Canadian classic, Anne of Green Gables.
TCP has been a cornerstone of the community for four decades, and I am honoured to be part of this tradition. Our success is a testament to the dedication and talent of every individual involved—our directing team, our Leadership Team, the cast, the production crew, and our incredible orchestra. Each person plays an indispensable role in bringing our productions to life and enriching the cultural tapestry of our community.
As we commemorate four decades of theatrical excellence, Anne of Green Gables serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring impact of storytelling and the arts. Through its charming narrative and memorable characters, we have the opportunity to celebrate the rich heritage of Canadian literature and showcase the talent and creativity within our community.
Based on the beloved Canadian classic by Lucy Maud Montgomery, this production promises laughter, tears and unforgettable moments. With its timeless themes of friendship, imagination and the power of love, Anne of Green Gables continues to resonate with audiences of all ages.
Our talented cast and crew have poured their hearts and souls into bringing this cherished story to life onstage. From the vibrant characters to the beautiful musical numbers, every aspect of this production has been carefully crafted to captivate and inspire.
Thank you for your continued support. We hope you enjoy these few hours of magic and laughter as your journey with us through Avonlea.
Brooke Gamble
Artistic Director
My first community theatre show was Children of Eden, TCP’s 20th anniversary show in 2004. It remains a formative experience in my life as a performer, and I am so grateful for the wonderful family I found with TCP. Playing Quasimodo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame for TCP’s 35th anniversary remains one of the highlights of my acting career, and my first directing experiences were here at TCP as well, with 2020’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and 2021’s Murder on the Orient Express. I’ve worked with many wonderful theatre groups, and had fantastic experiences doing so, but for me, TCP means home. It has been so exciting to come home to celebrate 40 years of this special company.
Anne of Green Gables is the perfect show to celebrate this milestone. Although published in 1908 and set in the late 1800s, Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic story remains timeless and relevant. The show’s story is moving and powerful, its characters nuanced and compelling, and its music classic and fun. It has truly been a joy to create the world of Avonlea with our cast and creative team. It has been so much fun to have so many TCPers come home to celebrate our 40th anniversary, and to have many new faces join the TCP community as well.
My thanks and admiration to all the amazing people who’ve made this show possible—all the volunteers, from the cast on down, who give their time and talents so lovingly to TCP. Special mention to my amazing creative partners, Brooke, Anna and Eliza, and to our fantastic stage-management team. This is truly what “Community Theatre at Its Very Best” looks like.

Every year TCP’s shows are made possible by the dedication and energy of hundreds of volunteers and supporters. It takes a huge team to create the magic of a TCP production, and encouraging members of the community to get involved is what TCP loves to do. Whether it’s onstage, singing and dancing, or behind the scenes, sewing, painting or building (to name just a few activities), TCP is all about community. The Community Players firmly believe in the possibilities that await us all. It’s part of how TCP continues to strive to provide “community theatre at its very best” both onstage and off.
Come be part of our future! To learn more about volunteering with The Community Players of New Hamburg, please email us at info@thecommunityplayers.com, or call us at 1-800-827-7524
