The Community Players of New Hamburg

Bringing “Community Theatre at its Very Best” to Wilmot Township since 1984

For over four decades, The Community Players of New Hamburg (TCP) have been bringing people together to create live, high-quality, family-friendly theatre. What began in 1984 as a small group of friends staging Godspell to celebrate Trinity Lutheran Church’s 150th anniversary has grown into a vibrant, welcoming not-for-profit arts organization and registered Canadian charity, dedicated to enriching our community through the performing arts.

Every year, hundreds of volunteers of all ages work side-by-side to produce outstanding musicals and plays. From our early years performing in church halls, to transforming the old New Hamburg Arena into the magical Trinity Theatre for large-scale musicals, and the New Hamburg Community Centre upstairs into the Studio Theatre for intimate non-musical productions, TCP has built a reputation for excellence, creativity, and heart.

Productions like Mary PoppinsNoises OffThe Music ManSteel Magnolias, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Matilda, and many more offer more than just entertainment. They are a place for people to learn, grow, and express themselves; for local businesses and residents to connect; and for audiences from the Region of Waterloo, Stratford, and beyond to share in something unforgettable.

At TCP, we believe in community, inclusion, and mutual respect. We welcome participants ages 8 and up, encourage family involvement, and are committed to providing a safe, supportive environment for everyone.

Through our work, we foster the spirit of giving through volunteering, resource sharing, or simply by cheering from the audience, and we proudly support other local performing arts initiatives.

Whether you’re on stage, behind the scenes, or in the seats, you’re part of the TCP story. And we can’t wait to see where the next act takes us!
