Announcing The Oliver! Directing Team
The Community Players of New Hamburg are excited to announce the directing team for our May 2018 production of Oliver! This year’s team is a mix of new and returning members and we look forward to seeing their vision unfold in what promises to be a memorable and “Gloriously Reimagined” staging of the well-known musical.
Artistic Director, Danielle Guistini-Crouse
Although she has big shoes to fill, Danielle is thrilled to be returning to TCP in the role of Artistic Director. Directing Credits include; Mary Poppins, Fiddler on the Roof, and Steel Magnolias, and an upcoming production of Little Women. Danielle also produced the “With a Song” Benefit series for the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre. Performance credits include: Grizzabella (Cats), Julia (The Wedding Singer), Julie (Carousel). Danielle performs in Hitch a Ride – A Tribute to Boston and is a manager with The Beer Store.
Director, Marc Hurwitz
Born in London, England, Marc’s love of musical theatre began during middle school in Guelph where he starred in the show Laura and the Lieutenant, set during the War of 1812. After leaving theatre to raise five children, he returned as one of the ensemble for KWMP’s Oliver! in 2001. Since then, Marc has acted in many shows. He was Cain (Children of Eden) and Willie Conklin (Ragtime) with TCP, Jerry Lukowski (The Full Monty), John King (Secret at Woodside), and Constable Ian McTavish (At The Crossroads) to name a few. He has also worked backstage, produced, and sat as a KWMP Board Member for many years. Marc has many interests outside of theatre: performance poet, teacher of entrepreneurship at the University of Waterloo, author of two books, internationally recognized expert on followership and leadership, co-founder of two startups, competitive pinball player, and husband/father/grandfather.
Musical Director, Andrea Emrich
Sharing in the gift of community music has always been an important part of Andrea’s life. She has most recently been the Musical Director for Mary Poppins and looks forward to working on Oliver! She has volunteered for many TCP shows, is a teacher with the WRDSB, has a private music studio and has conducted school and church ensembles for many years. Andrea directs the Transylvania Hofbrau Band which performs throughout Ontario, and has toured throughout Germany, Austria and the United States.
Choreographer, Sarah Willett
This will be Sarah’s first show with TCP but she is no stranger to the stage. Sarah graduated from the Integrated Arts Program (Eastwood Collegiate Institute), holds an Honours Bachelor of Music (Wilfrid Laurier University), and a Bachelor of Education (York University). Sarah is the Co-Founder/Camp Director of Waterloo Region Stage School, which runs summer programs for kids/teens who are interested in the performing arts. She currently teaches singing lessons at Renaissance School of the Arts, is a choreographer for KW Glee, and is an Occasional Teacher for the WRDSB. Sarah is active both on and off the stage. Favourite roles include: Mayzie Labird in (Seussical), Mrs. MacAfee (Bye Bye Birdie), Susan (The Full Monty), Mrs. Pye (Anne of Green Gables), and Jack’s Mom (Into the Woods) (KWMP). Choreography credits include: Grease, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Broadway Our Way (KWMP).
Orchestra Director, Matt Teeter
Oliver! is Matt’s debut show with TCP and he is excited to join such a dynamic organization. Matt obtained his music degree from Queens University and has been an educator for 25 years. Matt keeps a very busy musical theatre schedule. He is currently the Orchestra Director for Guelph Little Theatre’s production of The Gondoliers (Oct. 2017) and is in the pit orchestra for RCMPI’s production of Shrek (Nov. 2017). Recent shows include: The Drowsy Chaperone (GLT, June 2017), 9 to 5 (RCMPI, April 2017), Heathers (CCP, March 2017), The Wizard of Oz (RCMPI, Nov. 2016), Legally Blonde (CCP, March 2016). Matt lives in Elora, On. with his wife and 2 children.

Mark your calendars, auditions for Oliver! will take place January 12-14, 2018. We will be looking for actors of all ages to join this exciting cast. Audition bookings will begin November 1st and more detail about auditions will follow in the coming weeks.
