TCP to bring Aida to the stage In 2011

New Hamburg – The Community Players of New Hamburg have announced their production for May 2011: Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida. This is the first time Aida will be performed in Waterloo Region. Contemporary, edgy, romantic, tragic and inspirational are only a few of the words that can describe this epic musical.

Building on a rich history of memorable theatre---Children of Eden, Titanic, Carousel, The Wizard of Oz and most recently Cats, TCP invites you to journey with us in the spring of 2011 to the distant lands of Egypt and Nubia for what promises to be another amazing theatrical journey: community theatre at its very best!

TCP Sets Stage Thanks to $40,000 OTF Grant

New Hamburg – The Community Players of New Hamburg (TCP) is delighted to announce that the organization has received a $40,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).  The grant is being offered to permit TCP to acquire a portable stage/seating system to augment its stage platforms and provide better seating for its patrons.

“I am pleased that the Community Players of New Hamburg have been awarded this funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation," said Leeanna Pendergast, MPP for Kitchener-Conestoga.  "This grant is important to our local economy and our community's quality of life.”

An integral part of the community of New Hamburg and Waterloo region, TCP puts that community in the forefront of all its activities.

Celia Jones, President of TCP, commented, “We thank the Trillium Foundation of Ontario for their recognition of The Community Players of New Hamburg through their generous donation and we look forward to sharing the benefits of that gift with the community.”

Staging productions of high quality, TCP continually strives to improve the theatre experience for its participants and audiences, and offers many opportunities for people of all ages to get involved with the process of mounting a production – both onstage and off.  In addition, providing financial support to other groups within Wilmot Township with a portion of its show proceeds is a guiding principle, which contributes to TCP being a unique community theatre organization.  Over the years, they have contributed over $49,000 to other charitable and not-for-profit groups.

TCP is thrilled that the Ontario Trillium Foundation has approved this grant application, and looks forward to implementing its plans for the future – striving to maintain its reputation of “community theatre at its very best”.

TCP’s 2010 production of CATS, by Andrew Lloyd Webber, is currently in rehearsal opening Thursday, May 6, 2010, and running until Sunday, May 9 at the New Hamburg Arena.   For more information about TCP, or for tickets, go to their website at www.thecommunityplayers.com, or contact them by phone at (519) 662-4532.
