Setting our Sights on 2023

Francis of Assisi famously said: “Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”

As we look ahead to our 2023 season, TCP has decided that the best and ‘necessary’ thing to do at this point in time, is to cancel our plans for The Fantastiks in the Fall of 2022, and focus our energies on production for 2023. As difficult as that decision is, we know it’s the right one for our organization, partners, and volunteers.

The past couple of years, which we have endured together, encouraged us to see beyond what was ‘necessary’, to what was ‘possible’. By gaining new skills, we were able to stay connected with our audiences, as well as with our volunteers and partners by offering virtual productions, like Spring Revue and TCP’s Holiday Special. And Take Two (five two-person plays, presented in the spring of 2021), conceived to offer a ‘bubbled’ COVID-acceptable version of live theatre, though seemingly impossible, was a great success, and brought opportunities for many volunteers to expand their own horizons whether on stage or off.

With Murder on the Orient Express now successfully completed, we have decided to focus our energies this fall on putting pins in place for an exciting return to the stage in 2023, allowing our partners and volunteers the opportunity to take a breath, celebrate our accomplishments, and do some intentional planning for the future.

And the future is indeed bright, with many reasons to celebrate! Among them, the recent $5.7 million renovation project for the New Hamburg Arena – and, with the support of 100 Men Who Give A Damn plus a number of local businesses, plans for a new electronic community highway sign are in the works. This will enable us to provide clear messaging not only for TCP but a dynamic messaging service for charitable causes in New Hamburg and the surrounding community.

Far from feeling diminished by the storm that COVID brought us – we feel grateful for all we were able to accomplish. We are excited for the opportunities in front of us, and we can’t wait to be with all of you again – volunteers, partners, and audience members alike. In the meantime, we are taking the steps that are necessary to ensure we continue to bring you “community theatre at its very best”.

Stay tuned for coming announcements on how you can be involved with TCP as we plan for 2023.
With thanks for your continued support!
